 Gas leak evacuates Tafe

Gas leak evacuates Tafe

2/07/2008 3:16:00 PM
A gas leak at Wellington TAFE saw police, fire brigade and ambulance services called and the building evacuated yesterday morning about 8am.

A cleaner who had smelled gas in the building alerted emergency services to the leak.

Staff and students of the TAFE were evacuated to McDonalds car park while the scene was cleared.

The area was cordoned-off and a plumber attended the scene to disconnect the natural gas line that supplies the building.

The plumber stayed at the scene to investigate the cause of the leak.

Staff and students were able to re-enter the building about 10am.
