New team takes reins at Ridgecrest

New team takes reins at Ridgecrest

27/06/2008 12:03:00 PM
Four new managers have arrived at Ridgecrest Christian Education and Convention Centre since February and they’re all keen as mustard to get to know the good folk of Wellington.

Brett and Robyn Thompson were living in Sydney and studying at bible college when they saw an advertisement for managers at Ridgecrest.

They applied, got the job, and next thing you know they were on the road to Wellington.

“The idea really appealed to us as it’s a way of practically serving and getting to know different people,” Brett said.

“We’ve loved the experience - it’s been a whole pile of different challenges.

“The people of Wellington have been very welcoming as have all the people we’ve had out here from the whole central west.”

The biggest change for Brett is not waking up to the 6am bus in West Ryde, but waking up instead to fresh air, sunlight and the sound of birds.

Brett and Robyn’s one-year-old son Obadiah is also pretty happy about the move and will have plenty of space to roam when he’s a little surer on his feet.

Clive and Jenny Gibbes arrived at Ridgecrest only a few weeks behind Brett and Robyn with their cat George.

Brett and Clive are both handy with their hands, while Robyn and Jenny both have great experience working in commercial kitchens, so they work as a team to keep Ridgecrest functioning smoothly.

All four have settled in well and are set to get their first big events under way.

Aside from car club camps and scrapbooking weekends, the group has set the task of holding Christmas in July luncheons.

Promising the full spread of Christmas delicacies, from the turkey and ham to the pudding and custard, not to mention the spectacular views, Brett believes a Ridgecrest Christmas lunch is the perfect way to spend a wintry afternoon.

The luncheons will be available between July 1 and 12, so if you’d like to meet the new team at Ridgecrest with the benefit of a beautiful lunch, organise a group of 30 people or more and call 6846 7434.
