King reigns supreme at memorial shield contest

The annual Ron Chun .303 shoot was held last Sunday with competitors from Dubbo, Mudgee and Narromine competing for the Ron Chun Memorial Shield.

This competition is shot with .303 military rifles fitted with aperture sights as is standard practice for big bore range shooting throughout the Commonwealth.

Range winners were:

n First 500 yards

Steve King 48.3

Jim Pierie 47.2

Barry Denovan 45.1

n Second 500 yards

Jim Pierie 48.2

Rob Rainbow 70.2

Steve King 46.2

n 600 yards

Bernie Doohan 72.4

Rob Rainbow 70.2

Steve King 68.3

n Aggregate of three ranges

Steve King 162.8

Rob Rainbow 162.3

Bernie Doohan 159.2

Dawn Hough, Marilyn Kelly and Jan Pierie organised the catering for the visitors and competitors.

Office statistics and management was left in the capable hands of Paul Kelly.

Targets and Gallery were run by Lyle Cole, Donna and Steve Elley from Mudgee.
