While not bringing home any trophies, the Cusack trio of James, Mitchell and Kurt did themselves and Wellington proud playing in the Subaru Age Championships on the NSW south coast last week. Contending with fast coastal greens, strong winds and other young golfers playing off handicaps as low as one, the boys did well on their tour. Games were played at Mollymook and the Catalina course at Bateman’s Bay. All three boys ended up in the middle of the pack overall and had a great week with some lessons learned and much valuable experience to carry them into what would have to be a promising future in the game.

How quickly time passes because next Saturday’s event is the August Monthly Medal. August 9 is a four ball best ball, round four of the Cornish Trophy and round three of the President’s Shield. John Donnelly and Kevin Whale will sponsor the day with Rodney Cunnynghame starter.
Sunday August 10 is round one of the Mixed Foursome Champioships with David Ryan starter.
The Captain’s Log confirms that following the July meeting there is no out of bounds to the left of the 18th fairway better known as the practice fairway. As the new fairway watering system is to be installed shortly and there will be some open, albeit shallow trenches for a short time, the course will technically become a work site. Accordingly it will be necessary for players to sign a form before playing the course.
Shed rental and annual subscriptions are now due. Finally, the Captain reminds all players to please repair extra pitch marks as well as your own in an effort to fix this ongoing problem.
