Redbacks win in front of big crowd
On a day that was better to be inside in front of the fire, a huge crowd turned out to watch the Redbacks notch up a big win over the Geurie Goats at Wellington’s annual Sponsors/Ladies Day last weekend.
There must have been a special someone back in town to watch the game because Will Redfern had a blinder hitting the ball up strongly and dragging two and three players with him each time.
Other notable mentions for the day were Chris “Rooster” George who filled in at five-eighth and played brilliantly directing the backs around the park, Sam “Frog” Frogley and Daniel “Pooh Bear” Stanford also chipped in with some great attack and ferocious defence.
The final score for the game was 49-5.
Points for the game went to Will who picked up three, Rooster who picked up two and Frog collected one.
The Westoil Petroleum President’s Award went to Dan “Pooh Bear” Stanford and the players’ player was shared between Will and Rooster.
The Redbacks will be back on the road again this weekend when they travel down to Orange to take on the Charles Sturt University Orange Aggies.
The Redbacks would also like to once again thank all those people who helped make the Sponsors/Ladies Day run so well.
