Wellington, Aggies can't be separated

4/07/2008 11:46:00 AM
The Redbacks faced off against the Charles Sturt University Orange Aggies last weekend on a pleasant winter’s afternoon.

In what was a very lacklustre effort from the Redbacks, the Aggies nearly pulled off a huge upset, keeping the Redbacks out of the game for the majority of the 80 minutes.

The Redbacks jumped out to an early lead, scoring three tries in the first 20 minutes of the game, but the Redbacks fell asleep after that, letting the Aggies get back in the game, dominating the ruck area and controlling ball possession.

In the end, the two teams couldn’t be separated with the final score ending at 20-all.

Players’ player went to Sam ‘Frog’ Frogley, with the prestigious Chick’s Pick going to Dave ‘Coke Can’ Sturman.

The points for the game were awarded to Chris ‘Rooster’ George who picked up three, Dave ‘DG’ Grant who collected two and Trent ‘Ferret’ Simpson who picked up one.

This result continues to see Wellington sit in third place on the President’s Cup table, behind Blayney and Yeoval.

This week the Redbacks have a bye, which will provide the team with some much-needed rest before the boys face their final three games of the normal season, with the finals to follow.
