This weekend is the last before a two-week break from the Wellington and Dubbo competitions.
Numbers are expected to be down, so teams are to be as even as possible (with 11 players on the field).
Another reminder to all players that they are not to stand near the back of the nets after the concerns on the under 10s park last weekend, with a ball in play impeded by a non-playing person. It is also in the interest of children’s safety for them to steer clear of the nets.
The referees’ course will run from 9am to 4pm on July 19 at Pioneer Park. Names are to be put in this weekend or contact Alan Nicholson.
The Centre for Excellence Program is still going ahead. Unfortunately, the delivery is not as it was initially planned, with western football over-committing themselves with the State titles during the school holidays and the resignation of Richard Evans.
Western Football representatives have asked Wellington coaches to deliver the program instead and have stated that they will mentor our coaches and are expected to be at two to three training sessions. (Anyone interested in being an understudy and helping out would be great, don’t be shy).
Remember all participants must bring their ball, jumper and a bottle of water to participate in the program, which is at 4.15pm every Monday.
The course will be run during the school holidays, which is indirectly part of the program, so players get a little more coaching out of the program.
The club is negotiating a reduction in fees and is still awaiting delivery of the participant’s clothing. The committee will meet next week to make decisions and I will inform all participants when the negotiations are finalised and fees are amicably agreed upon.
