Wests Tigers’ hard work pays off with grand final win

18/09/2008 11:15:00 AM
The Wests Tigers team has tried all year, finishing in third place and working hard to make the grand final.

Their efforts were rewarded with a 6-1 win over the Cheaters.

Wests Tigers were the underdogs going into the game, playing the minor premiers and the weeks rest was telling as Wests Tigers Brittany Naden (1) found the nets in the opening minutes of the game.

The passing game from the Wests Tigers wore down their opponents with Ngahla Talbot (1) and Spencer May (1) keeping the heart of the team pumping in midfield and the ball alive, while Ryan Goninan, Lachlan Brown and Josh Bennett supported well out wide.

Harry May weaved some Marshall Magic in the number six shirt, scoring a triple off the back of some brilliant teamwork.

The defence for the Wests Tigers was outstanding with Mathew Burgess leading the way, being supported well by Tara Lee Swainston, Jack Conn, Sara Darney and Lindsay Stanley playing a brilliant role in sweeper.

Lachlan Brown and Sara Darney were both sensational in the goalie roles, both making some great saves and cleaning up when needed.

Every player in the Wests Tigers team played their best game of the season and worked together and should be proud of themselves, for playing with heart and spirit.

The Cheaters put in a big effort and worked tirelessly with Brad Reid, never giving up and making a number of skilful tackles in defence throughout the game.

Zeke Griffith scored the only goal for the Cheaters and played in goals during the second half making a number of spectacular saves.

A round of applause for Cheaters team players Emma Wykes, Britney Smith, Alanah Wirth, Emma Cenzato, Kayla Skelly, Brad Kitch, Ben Whiteley, Sam Hunt, Lachlan Conn and Jareth Cook for their good sportsmanship and efforts displayed throughout the match.
